Description
The Stopper is a screwed-in shock absorber, placed between the two rings, made of soft silicone. It is commonly known as a “silencer “or “shock absorber” because its main function is to prevent the two rings from colliding when opening and closing the blades, thus helping to make cutting smoother for the operator without overloading muscles and tendons. Because the Stopper is subject to ‘wear and tear, it is advisable to replace it every 6-8months if the scissors are used continuously. To check whether the Stopper is still soft enough or whether wear and tear has compromised its effectiveness, you can apply light pressure with your fingernail. The Stopper should be easily engraved. If the pressure causes no incision and the silicone is intact, this indicates that the Stopper needs to be replaced because the sheath or the silicone covering it has hardened, reducing its effectiveness. It is not possible to work with scissors without a Stopper, nor is it advisable to do so if the Stopper is too stiff.
