Straight Scissors

Straight scissors are of an older design and are particularly useful for areas of the dog’s body characterized by straight lines, such as the back and the perpendiculars of the paws.
They can have different blade widths, and the three best known are:

Wide blades: These blades are slightly heavier due to the greater amount of material, but provide a safe and firm cut. To make the best use of wide-bladed scissors, it is recommended to have good hand management since, due to the greater weight, you could risk making the tips wobble, compromising your work. The wide blades offer a wide range of cuts, from roughing to fast finishing (e.g. Believe or Be Sure by Akko Scissors).

Intermediate blades: Their peculiarity lies in the fact that they are lighter and easier to manage, giving a cutting size similar to that of narrow blades but with the quality of wide blades. They are also almost as light as narrow scissors (e.g. Hammer by Akko Scissors).

Narrow blades: This type of blade is lighter and highly recommended for beginners in the profession, offering greater control of the instrument. They lend themselves well to all work in limited areas, such as muzzles, for an Asian style or on small dogs. They are easy to handle and very handy scissors (e.g. Asian Straight by Akko Scissors)
